I am so disappointed. This piece of trashis unwatchable. Just a cacophony of loosely tied bits, gags, throwbacks to old movies just to cashgrab this one. This vaguely resembles a movie in it's form, not like the first three Scary Movies (the OG ones). It's a shame. A damn shame. It's Epic/Disaster/Date Movie or Meet the Spartans all over again. This makes Superhero Movie look like Citizen Kane.

If you're a fan of the "Halloween", "I Know What you Did..." and "Scream" franchises, then you'll probably appreciate many of the parodies here - as well as it's comic critique on some of their more repetitious production techniques, as we watch "Ghostface" going on the rampage again. Marlon and Shawn Wayans act as the anchors as the story moves along quickly for a ninety minutes that pokes fun at the formulaic predictability of so many of the horror film genres; of the racist and sexist tropes that feature all too often and of the almost "Scooby Do" nature of the supernatural that usually confers the culprit(s) with a degree of invincibility and immortality. There are a few chuckle moments, but it's trying to do too much in too short a time and I didn't feel either Wayans nor Anna Faris's "Cindy" really shine. Dave Sheridan's "Doofy" is just plain annoying and though the writing is often quite clever, the assembled cast just don't really do enough with the premiss. It's not boring, and there's a fun skit on "Sinners" (2025) towards the end which I quite liked, but the remainder of this is short on scares and very long on dialogue.

Its not funny and the whole story line is trying so hard to imitates the originals .. but sadly even as a parody movie its just so boring and gross that cant even get pass half an hour of the movie time. There is not even a single moment where the punch line is originaly funny and yeah just waste of time. Its definitely a total drop.

It's interesting that Scream 7 came out the same year as this movie. Both are very tired franchises that have been retreading the same ground for a long time. However, Scream 7 still manages to be engaging, at least up to a point. This movie does not manage to be funny. A horror movie has to be scary, and Scream manages that adequately. A comedy has to be funny, and scary movie does not attain that. These are jokes meant for an earlier audience that try to be offensive in the same way that worked more than two decades ago. And it simply does not land. It is boring, incoherent, and disjointed. It is best to be avoided.

Scary Movie (2026) successfully revives the horror parody franchise with its signature Wayans humour and the return of several original cast members. The film pokes fun at various modern horror films through hilarious scenes packed with pop culture references. Although some of the jokes feel a bit over the top and don’t always land, the film as a whole remains entertaining, particularly for fans of the previous instalments. A blend of nostalgia, absurd comedy and fresh parody makes Scary Movie (2026) a light-hearted watch that delivers plenty of laughs without needing to be taken too seriously.

It is always hard to recommend a movie that if I wasn’t waiting for a specific scene, I would have closed it less than 30 minutes in. This is not a movie for the sake of entertainment. This feels more like a statement, a reunion, and a satire. The first few minutes of the movie is just funny enough to makes you think that the Wayans brothers are now for sell, and they are making a sequel just like Scary Movie 3 to 5. The rest of the movie utilized forced modern cliche, nostalgia ploy that makes no sense if you have seen the original, forced meta, forced political and social commentary, and a forced sequel. The Wayans brothers basically blows up every tricks in the book, and it just makes you cringe. Then the ending happened. That’s when it hit, well, they sort of said it out loud, but still. They are not here to parody the horror genre, they are here to parody Scary Movie and the movie industry as a whole, and to say “they are back”. The Wayans brothers used the whole movie, as a blown up cliche on the current movie franchises and the direction they are heading. And I have to hand it to them, it worked. It satirize the idea that a franchise needs to “pass the torch” when the current cast members got old. It satirize how when a franchise is dying, you need to bring in “star power(s)” to save it. And the ending and the end credit scenes, that’s just a big “f u” to the industry. It used the exact same tricks in the same book, yet somehow, I got more laughs more frequently in the last 20 minutes then the last 3 movies ever could.

Going in, based on everything I read, I didn't expect this to be funny. And indeed outside a couple weak chuckles, it wasn't. What was most surprising I guess was just how damn dull it was to the point I went on my computer to get some things done while this played (within eyesight). The most positive thing I can say is at least the production value was better than Scary Movie 5 which was all kinds of different bad (like the Friedberg/Seltzser crap). Even the jokes that were supposed to be offensive were quite safe. Not even the reunion of Ana Faris and Regina Hall could even come close to make this even watchable. I will say I do have a crush on Ruby Snowber now... **1.25/5**
